Where to Turn After the Storm
Our hearts go out to the victims of
Saturday’s tornado that struck at least 13 counties
including our neighbors Yazoo and Warren Counties.
The stories we have heard and the extensive damage
we have witnessed on television indicate the
magnitude of this tragedy.
We feel their pain and we want to help. I know the
Greater Jackson community is a most giving
community. When something like this happens to our
neighbors, our immediate reaction is to support them
in any possible way. We are reminded how fragile our
lives and lifestyles really are and how truly
blessed we have been.
So what can we do to help the people of these
devastated communities?
The majority
of our community has already been engaged in the
most appropriate response and that is remembering
those affected in our constant prayers.
Another helpful action would be to give to
one of the entities which are already well organized
and on the ground in the devastated communities.
Suggestions on which entities to contribute
are listed below.
Granted this is not a totally comprehensive
list, but these organizations are there and making a
difference.
Other options include your choice of many
extremely good faith based agencies.
If other requests from the tornado struck areas
surface, we will pass them along to you the members
of our corporate community.
For now remember Hebrews 6:10 “God is not
unjust: he will not forget your work and the love
you have shown him as you have helped his people and
continue to help them”.
