THE CHAMPION WITHIN
Last week
at the Greater Jackson Chamber
Partnership Annual Meeting, this
organization recognized the
achievements of the 2009 year
and honored those individuals
who made significant
contributions to the
organization and our community.
Before saying a word or two
about the individuals, let’s
think back on the region’s
victories of the past year.

Join us
for the 15th Annual
Metro Teacher Recognition
Luncheon!
Sponsored
by:
The Greater Jackson Chamber
Partnership will host the
15th Annual Metro Teacher
Recognition Luncheon
Thursday, February 18, from
Noon to 1 p.m. at the Old
Capitol Inn.
The program, sponsored by
BancorpSouth, was created to
show appreciation and
recognize truly outstanding
educators working in the
various metro area school
districts.
Each year, nomination forms
are sent to all public,
private, & parochial K-12
schools in the metro area.
Principals and
Parent/Teacher organizations
are encouraged to nominate
one member of their faculty
that represents an
individual that truly
embodies what it means to be
“outstanding”. The program
was not created in an effort
to select the “best”
teacher, but more of an
attempt to showcase some of
the tremendous educational
talent in our metro area.
A
committee, comprised of
various individuals with a
background in education,
reviews all of the
applications received and
selects the top 12 based on
criteria such as essay,
unique activity
implementation, and ability
to correlate the classroom
to the real world.
Companies or individuals
interested in attending the
luncheon may contact Kellye
Smith at (601) 948-7575,
ext. 234 or
ksmith@greaterjacksonpartnership.com
for ticket information.
